1 car. 2 friends. 38 hours. 2,414 miles. What could go wrong?
Recently, my colleague and friend, Erin Baldwin, and I received a prestigious award of $4500. We decided to use the money to fund our dream road trip, exploring the East Coast. From Havana, Illinois to Boston, Massachusetts, there are more possible stops than anyone could ever care to make in a single road trip. However, staying within our budget, we hope to make a satisfactory amount. We will be keeping the world updated on our trip via this blog, so stay tuned to see how the "Mr. D's Awesome English" award of 2016 is being spent.
The Plan
We're taking Erin's mom's car, a 2011 Camry that gets about 33 mpg, so we should spend about $139.72 on gas. We're also taking snacks and cereal bars and stuff in the car with us, so we won't always have to stop for small meals like breakfast.
Update: The road trip went really well, everyone! We're back at home and we have $2,723 left, so we're probably going to go on another road trip soon, which is really exciting. Maybe somewhere south this time... Anyway, we spent a total of $1776, which I think we should get bonus points for because it's very patriotic.
